How ear plugs can save your hearing and let you play music for longer
So -you’ve read the title and are thinking ‘we dont need earplugs -its supposed to be loud! Yes, heavy metal is meant to be loud enough to shatter our neighbours windows and glasses at the same time. So we cant have it loud AND protect our hearing at the same time? Without hearing protection, you’ll be going deaf by the time your reaching forty. Id like to have my hearing so that when i get into old age i can still listen and play the music i love. ‘Thats not rock and roll’ you must be saying by now -consider that i like being able to hear people talking to me and listening to the music i love. I known alot of people who are on the verge of loosing their hearing now in one ear -so when it all goes the only option will be a hearing aid. Everyone into metal looses some hearing- mine has gone alittle- all the more reason to protect it.
Many performers are using ear plugs anyway, half the time their hair is hiding the earplugs from view - so if they can protect their hearing why cant you? you shouldnt be worried about what everyone else thinks- If they want to go completely deaf in a few years time then let them. Besides, if your considering a career in music, then the longer you get to keep your hearing for than the longer you get to do that career -a bit hard to carry on once your hearings gone- unless your beethoven.
Who are you so afraid of that will find out about you using them? The other people in your band are using ear plugs to. You dont seem to be alone in wanting to keep your hearing -and itll take two seconds to put ear plugs in.
Its one more reason to further crank the volume up isnt it? Need some hearing protection or digital hearing aids
